Melisha and her children ran from an abusive partner. They put as much as they could in a U-Haul and left. Not knowing where to turn they moved into Ruby’s Place, a shelter for abused women and children. There they were able to live safely, save up and find a place of their own.

When they did find their place they had some things but not all the necessities such as beds, a dining table or a couch. Then the Orinda Boy Scouts Troop 237 stepped up for the challenge and got them all they needed and more! See what they were able to accomplish in just a few hours!

Boys bedroom before. The bedroom doesn't even have mattresses. It's just some pillows, a fan, and some wall decorations.
Boys Bedroom After. Two plush new beds, wall decorations, a new carpet, and new furniture have transformed this room into a luxurious space for the boys.
Image of living room before. There is no couch, only two barstools. The family's belongings were still packed in boxes and there were no decorations on the wall.
Image of living room after. The living room has been reorganized. The family has a lovely new spacious couch and two armchairs. The walls are adorned with artwork, and a new carpet and coffee table tie the room together.
